While in the western culture the theme of the song may seem disrespectful, it is all the way around!! The song celebrates life contrasting a rather sad event. Lyrics in early cumbia are short, simple and sassy. This song featured a 2007 compilation put together by Oliver Conan for Barbes Records called “The Roots of Chicha”, which went around the world and has been sampled and used by DJs in a new trendy diversion of Chicha: Electronic Cumbia. “Chicha” is short for Peruvian Cumbia. Interpreted by thousands of artists around the world: “El Condor Pasa”; written by the Peruvian composer Daniel Alomía Robles in 1912 for the Peruvian Zarzuela (musical play) of the same name.
